Series 1 consisted of 13 episodes of the A-Team (including the feature-length pilot, "Mexican Slayride") and initially aired in the US from
23rd January 1983 to 10th May 1984.
Series 1: Episode 1
Original Air Date (US): January 23rd 1983.
Mexican Slayride
Written by: Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell
Directed by: Rod Holcomb
Amy Allen, a journalist with the "Los Angeles Courier", finds and then hires the A-Team to rescue her colleague, Al Massey, who has been captured in Mexico. The A-Team find Massey, and in turn they are also captured by some Mexican drug bandits aided by a rebel army. Eventually they escape in a traditional A-Team shoot out, aided by Murdock in a crop-dusting 'plane! And all this while being pursued by Colonel Lynch...
This was the pilot episode for The A-Team and ran for 2 hours. Although a good episode, it does suffer from being so long. It does a good job of introducing the characters, even if Face is played by Tim Dunigan whom I didn't like at all. He just didn't have the charisma and suave charm of Dirk Benedict.

Pros And Cons
Written by: Stephen J. Cannell
Directed by: Ron Satlof
A friend of B.A. escapes from a prison where the warden conducts illegal fight-to-the-death boxing matches between prisoners and then releases the prisoner who wins. However, the winner is then hunted down and killed. The A-Team go undercover (i.e. they get arrested) and infiltrate the prison, with B.A. getting himself involved in a boxing match, and Hannibal camping it up as a hairdresser.
A good episode of the A-Team, especially when they attempt to get arrested (by crashing into a police station, no less). Hannibal's camp hairdresser and B.A.'s angry mute make an interesting team.
